He was inviting me to a celebration of the genesis of Bear Creek Nature Park (161 acres) on the Oyster River and the creation of a conservation covenant granted by the Evans Family, owners of Shelter Point Farms, consisting of 357 acres of fields and environmentally sensitive foreshore on the Oyster River Estuary to Ducks Unlimited Canada.

The young and experienced shone like stars at last Sunday’s Cedar 12K Road Race, just south of Nanaimo. The hilly course is one of the most challenging in the eight-race Island Running Series and 32 Comox Valley runners were up to the challenge and brought home medals.
