In loving memory ~
Yvonne has been called home by God to whom she prayed fervently, asking for His grace while thanking Him for our family's health and happiness. She leaves behind her loving husband Arnold, her children, Darrell, Angela and Curtis, five Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
Yvonne was an "island girl" proud of being born and raised in Sydney Mines on Cape Breton Island. Opportunities were limited on her Island Home, so she joined the RCAF. In Clinton, Ont. She met her future husband and was married in the Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, in Toronto. She was a Military Wife extraordinaire, holding the family together through many moves (five in the first ten years) and several deployments.
In 1970, she began working for Canada Post. 20 Years later, she and her husband retired to Vancouver Island - not surprising, she was after all an Island Girl. Yvonne was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Catholic Women's League but was a dedicated member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Yvonne lived the teaching of Jesus by serving the less fortunate. She supervised the Soup Kitchen, visited the poor in their homes serving their Temporal needs but also showing God's Mercy.
During her retirement, Yvonne enjoyed her time on the Sailing Boat she never did understand why female crew are always running around doing things while "the Captain" steered the boat. She was an avid gardener and a bossy one too!
No sitting around when there are weeds to pull. Her garden is beautiful, but not as beautiful as she was and continues to be.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Yvonne Lamb on Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church 1599 Tunner Dr. Courtenay.
