Homeowners in the Comox Valley Regional District's electoral areas can see up to $500 in rebates for greenhouse gas reducing electrical upgrades to their homes.

The CVRD has partnered with CleanBC to offer the Municipal Top-Up Program for homeowners in rural parts of the district, including Hornby and Denman Islands. The rebates are available for people completing electrical panel upgrades or installing heat pumps.

“The Municipal Top-Up Program will provide homeowners with access to additional rebates in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at their home or property,” said Edwin Grieve, Electoral Areas Services Committee Chair. “Climate change continues to have a lasting impact on our community and it’s important to provide funding support on various electrical upgrades and heating options.”

The program will provide $350 for heat pumps, and $500 for electrical panel upgrades to eligible residents. Electrical panel rebates are for 100, 200,or 400 amp service upgrades.

According to a release from the CVRD, the rebates support its Residential Emissions Reduction Action Plan, and eligible applicants will be automatically assessed for the rebates when they apply for the CleanBC Better Homes Rebate.
