A new tax calculator has been launched by the Comox Valley Regional District to help electoral area residents get the breakdown of their annual property taxes, explore the services they fund and compare them to the previous year’s totals.

The new online program is intended to explain further how property taxes are used and allows people to customize their own mix of services, depending on where they live or own property.

“The CVRD provides over 100 services – and each area subscribes to a different mix of those services. This means tax rates are different and can be complicated to understand,” said James Warren, Chief Administrative Officer. “We hope this new program will help by giving people the opportunity to break it down and dig deeper.”

Rural areas receive their property tax notices from the province’s Surveyor of Taxes Office and owners should have received those notices by now.

Property taxes are due by July 2, 2024. Payments can be made in a variety of ways including through your financial institution, BC service centres and online through eTaxBC. See the reverse side of your property tax notice for full details.
