Comox Valley Chamber hosts Bites and Insights session on making AI work for business
Published 5:30 pm Sunday, March 8, 2026
The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce will host its next Bites and Insights breakfast session on Thursday, March 19, 2026, featuring Carter Nolan of ALPHA IT.
The session, titled “Beyond the Hype: Why AI Pilots Fail and How to Get It Right,” will run from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Chamber Business Hub, #103–576 England Avenue in Courtenay.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly entering workplaces across Canada. While more than 90 per cent of organizations have experimented with AI tools, research shows that many pilot projects fail to produce measurable results. In many companies, AI is already being used informally by staff without clear policies, oversight, or a strategy for implementation.
In this practical session, Carter Nolan will explore what happens when AI is introduced into organizations without a clear framework. Attendees will learn about the risks, hidden costs, and operational frustrations businesses are encountering today as AI tools spread throughout the workplace. The session will also focus on how organizations can move beyond scattered experimentation toward a structured approach that ensures AI adoption is secure, aligned with business goals, and capable of delivering measurable return on investment.
“Most of us have tried AI by now,” said Tracey Clarke, Executive Director of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce. “But when tools start showing up across an organization without a plan, it can quickly create confusion, security concerns, and wasted effort. This session is about helping businesses move from experimentation to a thoughtful approach that delivers real value.”
Bites and Insights is a monthly breakfast speaker series hosted by the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce that features Chamber members and local experts sharing practical knowledge and strategies to support business growth. Each session combines professional learning with networking opportunities for local entrepreneurs, employers, and professionals.
Attendees will enjoy a hot breakfast while connecting with fellow members of the business community and gaining insights to strengthen their organizations.
