NIC (North Island College) Fest is coming back.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 19, NIC Fest will take over the college’s Comox Valley campus. The free, open-house-style event will allow people to experience campus life, talk with faculty and staff and look first-hand at what opportunities the school offers.
“NIC Fest invites you to imagine what the future becomes possible when you take the next step in your post‑secondary journey,” said Erin Kenny, associate director, marketing & future students. “Whether you’re a high school student planning your future, returning to learning mid‑career, or dreaming up a business of your own, this event showcases the many opportunities to learn, grow and succeed, right here in your community.”
The college started NIC Fest in 2023 to appeal to a wider audience, instead of just prospective students from secondary schools.
People who plan to attend can sign up for tours of Tul’al’txw, the new housing on campus. Classrooms, shops, student lounges, Indigenous gathering spaces and other locations can also be visited. Instructors, alumni and current students will also be available to talk to about campus life. Potential students can also learn about programs, services, and supports at the Info Fair.
Free refreshments will be available. People can also win prizes through an interactive passport-stamping scavenger hunt.
