Cumberland Community Schools Society (CCSS) is hosting its second annual Repair Café at Cumberland Community School, Beaufort Gym on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This community event provides an alternative for household items destined for the landfill to be repaired and reused for free.

Anyone with broken items in their homes that they would like to see repaired is welcome to bring them to the Repair Cafe.

“We are getting so excited for this event,” says Kate Ashton, CCSS program co-ordinator. “We have many textile repair volunteers coming, including one that specializes in fixing stuffies! Bring your teddies, and those pants with the hole.

Last year we were lucky enough to be able to fix over 50 items, including bike panniers, mix masters, lamps and a wooden chair. We are curious to see the items that people bring this year.”

The Repair Café will have volunteers that can repair:

• Small appliances

• Jewelry

• Garden equipment

• Electronics

• Clothing

• Slippers

• Leather

• Holes in knit items

• Toys

• Stuffies

And much more. There will also be a volunteer sharpening tools. Don’t trash it, bring it to the Repair Cafe!

There will be a tinker station for the kids to explore, as well as a Lego table, a sewing machine project and colouring sheets. Bring the whole family, grab a treat from our concession, and watch your item be fixed.
