The Millard-Piercy Watershed Stewards are hosting a pair of Millard Creek nature walks on Sunday, April 21, at 9 and 11 a.m.
These free, guided walks will be a great opportunity to learn about the diverse plants and creatures that inhabit the watershed. Each walk will cover the same path and take approximately one hour. At the end of the walk there will be a presentation and exhibits about aquatic life in the watershed, with a focus on salmon. Online registration is required.
Millard and Piercy creeks are precious resources that enhance the quality of life within the Comox Valley. For more than 20 years, the Millard-Piercy Watershed Stewards have worked to help restore the watershed habitat to a healthier state. This has involved in-stream habitat enhancement, planting native vegetation, engaging with residents to encourage habitat-friendly activities, and installing informational signage with the support of the City of Courtenay.
The meeting place is the concrete salmon statue at the Courtenay River Trail and 31st Street. As parking is limited, consider carpooling or bicycling to this event, or parking further up the trail near the Courtenay Airpark.
